Tokaj Wines
Tokaj (pronounced toe‑kye) is Hungary’s most storied wine region and the world’s first officially classified appellation. Set on volcanic hills in the country’s north‑east, it enjoys misty autumn mornings and the meeting of two rivers, conditions that encourage noble rot for the legendary Tokaji Aszú. This lusciously sweet “wine of kings” delivers apricot, honey and citrus‑peel richness balanced by laser‑sharp acidity.
But Tokaj isn’t just about dessert wine. Today, more than half of its production is dry, particularly from the Furmint grape. Dry Furmint behaves like Chablis with a volcanic twist: razor‑sharp acidity and flinty minerality over notes of lime blossom, green apple and stone. Hárslevelű adds floral perfume and softness, while modern winemakers craft Pezsgő (traditional‑method sparkling) that marries Tokaj’s volcanic precision with Champagne‑like finesse. Beneath these wines lies a mosaic of rhyolite tuff, dacite and zeolite; in the Mád Basin, legendary sites such as Szent Tamás and Betsek yield saline, deeply mineral wines.
This collection brings Tokaj’s spectrum to Singapore: bright dry Furmints and Hárslevelű blends, complex Tokaji Aszú 6‑Puttonyos and Szamorodni, and elegant Pezsgő. Explore a UNESCO‑listed landscape where centuries of history and volcanic geology combine to create wines of unmatched purity and value.
