Királyudvar Wines
Founded in 1997 when Anthony Hwang, owner of Vouvray’s celebrated Domaine Huet, purchased and revitalised several historic Tokaj vineyards, Királyudvar has become a standard‑bearer for biodynamic farming in Hungary. The estate cultivates 75 hectares across six hillside sites in Mád and Bodrogkeresztúr, working in harmony with celestial cycles to harvest at optimum ripeness.
Királyudvar’s winemaking marries ancient cellars carved into volcanic rock with a state‑of‑the‑art press house, enabling gentle handling and precise expression of Furmint, Hárslevelű and the rare Kabar. Their wines exhibit the salty, chalky and smoky notes that typify Tokaj’s rhyolite and zeolite soils, while biodynamic practices contribute vibrancy and clarity. The mission is ambitious: to craft wines that stand with the world’s best, a goal they pursue through meticulous farming and restrained winemaking.
In this collection you’ll find bone‑dry Furmint showing citrus, quince and wet‑stone minerality; textured Hárslevelű with honeyed florals; and sweet Szamorodni and Aszú that balance lushness with razor‑sharp acidity. Whether you’re a long‑time Tokaj fan or new to Hungary’s most famous region, Királyudvar offers a biodynamic benchmark.
